Holiday Cheer + Lights

Holiday Cheer + Lights took place on Friday, Dec. 6 at the amazing outdoor community-gathering space, SILO, in Makers Quarter™.

In addition to welcoming the holiday season in a unique urban environment, we celebrated San Diego’s first Mini Maker Faire, which took place the following day on Dec. 7 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Revelers 21 and up enjoyed local craft beer from Green Flash and handcrafted cocktails from Tito's vodka in the beer garden. Tasty treats were also available for purchase for everyone to enjoy. It was wonderful to see people peruse the Ugly Sweater Shop and gather around as we lit our grand SILO Christmas "Tree" for the season! Guests helped make a giant paper chain and other decorations and played SILO games like bocce ball, ping pong, bean-bag toss and giant Jenga to round out the urban holiday experience.

In the spirit of Mini Maker Faire, there was a mini preview of the show’s exhibits set up. At the Faire the following day, makers en masse showed off their creations and learned why modern making is such an empowering and gratifying activity for folks of all ages. Entry for Holiday Cheer + Lights for adults 18 and over was $10.00 and children were admitted for free. Guests were welcomed to bring the leashed family pet along, as this event was also pet-friendly!

Event attendees at SILO are always encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation, but there was street parking available.
